Well, a geode (meaning Earth-like) are geologically made within volcanoes.
They look like rocks but tend to be hollow containing masses of crystals.
I've taken inspiration from nature with my Geode body soap bar and Geode bath bombs.
Geode body soap
Geode-inspired charcoal, deep-purple cold-process handmade soap. It's carved to reveal the inner crystals of purple coloured Epsom and rock salt.
The scent is sweet and earthy. This is my special blend of lavender, rosemary and vetiver essential oils with a touch of vanilla.
I enjoy making homemade soap. I can be leap of faith at times and you never really know what the end result will be. But this is the fun of making soap. After the soap batter has been made I then pour it into the mould to set up. With this soap I'm aiming to get a two-tone effect with the white contrasting against the deep black purple.
Once the soap has set-up a little I sculp the top to create a cavity were I add the crystals. Then I cover it and keep it toasty warm to set and harden. All that's left to do is to cut it into bars, tidy the edges and let them cure for a few weeks.
Geode bath bomb
My Geode bath bomb is rock-style globe made with activated charcoal and filled with white and purple crystals.
This bath bomb comes in two halves revealing hidden crystals inside with a mix of Epsom, rock salt crystals and gold mica edging.
It's great to gently float the bath bomb halves on the bathwater letting them drift about releasing my scent-blend of lavender, lime and patchouli essential oils.
It took me a long time to perfect making these. Making a strong shell with a stone-like colouring and making the crystals stay inside. After so many fun trials I come up with a great little bath bomb that I am very pleased with.
