One of my more challenging soaps I find to make is my Citrus Ombré body soap. This layered soap takes a bit of time to get the layers looking right.
I start off with the soap batter made-up and then split into three parts. To each part I add a different colour: yellow, orange & yellow/orange. I start off pouring into the soap mould the orange batter.
I then dust with copper mica to create a mica line. Then carefully pour on the yellow/orange batter followed by the yellow. I decorate the top by scraping out the containers and dolloping the soap batter on randomly.
All that is left to do is to decorated the top with a drizzle of copper mica mixed alcohol.
Once the soap has had a day or so to set, I then chop it into bars, tidy the edges and let to cure for about four weeks.
Ingredients
This soap bar has a blend of coconut oil, olive oil pumice, sweet almond oil, canola oil. The lye solution is distilled water, sodium hydroxide and sodium lactate (salt of sodium lactate). A use a blend of orange, geranium, vetiver essential oils and a little vanilla fragrance. I achieve the colours using copper, orange and yellow mica powders.
